Garter sts (back and forth on row): Knit all rows.
Wavy pattern: See diagram M.1. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS. English translations for the wording in the diagrams are given at the bottom of this pattern, and they are given in the vertical order in which they appear in the diagram.

Scarf: Knit back and forth long-ways. Bend the circular needle double and cast on 195 sts on 2 needles size 7 mm [US 10 ½] with 1 thread of each quality (this is done to make the casting on edge more elastic). Pull 1 needle out and knit 2 rows of garter sts. Continue in M.1 with 4 sts in garter sts each side. When the piece measures approx 28 cm [11’’] – adjust to 1 whole repeat in the height – knit 2 rows of garter sts before casting off very loosely – knit the first row of M.1 whilst binding off (to make the binding off edge wavy too).

Crochet edge: Crochet an edge round the whole scarf with hook size 4.5 mm [US 7] and 1 thread of each quality as follows: 1 sc in the first st, *4 ch, 1 dc in the first of the 4 ch ( = 1 picot), skip 2.5 to 3 cm [0,8-1’’], 1 sc in the following st*, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 picot and 1 sl st in the first sc from beg of round.
