Excellent Praise and Gratitude is due to Allah tabaraka wa ta^ala the Lord of the Worlds to whom belong the blessings and the endowements. May Allah raise the rank of our beloved and respected Prophet MuHammad Sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam and protect his great nation from that which MuHammad Sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam feared for it.

Thereafter let it be known of the prohibition of the following:

Ibn Hibban transmitted in his Sahih from 'Umaymah bint Ruqayqah and others that the Prophet sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam said what means: «I do not shake hands with women». Our mother ^a’ishah herself said what means: «The hand of the Messenger of Allah never touched the hand of a woman who wasn’t his».

These texts are the base for the prohibition of touching directly, skin against skin the hand of strangers of the other sex (i.e. it is a person whom one could possibly marry, even though circumstances and the will of people concerned, may make it impossible at a particular moment. In this category we find complete strangers, cousins and brothers or sisters in law for instance). You may of course have such contacts with wives, daughters, nieces, aunts, mothers, grand mothers and any woman you may not marry under any circumstance.

At-Tabaraniyy transmitted in alMu^jamu lKabir that the Prophet peace be upon him said what means: «It is better for you to have a piece of iron go into your head than to touch a woman over whom you have no right». This hadith is sahih and we have already explained that touching meant direct contact.

Muslim related that the Messenger of Allah said what means: «The eye commits its part of zina and the hand commits its part of zina. The zina of the eye is to look and the zina of the hand is to touch, then the sex confirms or rejects it».

Al-Hafiz adhDhahabiyy, in his book concerning big sins wrote: «It is mentioned that whoever puts his hand on a woman he is not entitled to touch will have his hands chained to his neck on the day of judgement, and if he kissed her, his lips will be cut in the fire».

Allahu subhanahu wa ta^ala said what means:
{You have indeed in the Messenger of Allâh an excellent model}
(Surat al’Ahzab).

may Allah protect us from committing the sins in this life of the entire body ameen.
