BASE TRLANGLES
Using the backward-loop method (see Glossary),CO 56 sts
FIRST TRIANGLE:
ROW1: (RS)K1,turn. ROW2:and all WS rows: purl all sts worked on last row.
ROW3:Sl1, K1, turn. ROW5:Sl 1, K2,turn.
ROW7:Sl 1, K3 ,turn. ROW9:Sl1, K4, turn.
ROW11:Sl1, K5, turn. ROW13:Sl1, K6, turn.
ROW15:Sl1,K7.Do not turn work.
Work six more triangles the same as the first -56sts, 8sts each in seven triangles. Turn work at end of seventh triangle .
TIER 1
Tier 1 is made up of a left side triangle, six full rectangles, and a right side tide triangle, as viewed from the RS of the work .
LEFT SIDE TRIANGLE
ROW1: (WS) K1,turn. ROW2: K1f&b,turn.
ROW3: K1, P2tog,turn. ROW4:K1, M1(see Glossary), K1,turn.
ROW5: K1, P1, p2tog, turn. ROW6and all RS rows: Knit to last st, M1,K1.
ROW7:K1, P2, p2tog,turn. ROW9:K1, P3, p2tog, turn.
ROW11: K1, P4, p2tog, turn. ROW13:K1,P5,p2tog,turn.
ROW15:K1,P6, p2tog,do not turn-8sts in left triangle.
Work the first rectangle of this tier as foll:
TIER 1 RECTANGLES
ROW1
WS)With WS facing, pick up and purl 8sts along selvedge of next triangle or rec- tangle as foll: *Insert tip of right needle under both legs of selvedge st from back to front, wrap yarn around needle pwise, and pull up a loop; rep from*until 8 sts have been picked up. Sl last st picked up to left needle and P2tog .
ROW2:K8, turn. ROW3: Sl 1, p6, p2tog, turn.
ROWS4-15: Rep Rows2 and3six more times. At the end of Row 15, do not turn.
Work the next rectangle same as the first. When a total of six rectangles for this tier have been completed, work a right side triangle as foll:
RIGHT SIDE TRIANGLE
ROW1WS)Pick up and purl 8sts along selvedge of next triangle or rectangle, turn.
ROW2and all RS Rows: knit to end of sts in this section, turn.
ROW3:Sl1, p5, k2tog,turn. ROW5:Sl1, P4, K2tog, turn.
ROW7:Sl1, P3, K2tog, turn. ROW9:Sl1, P2, K2tog, turn.
ROW11:Sl1, P1, K2tog, turn. ROW13:Sl1, K2tog, turn.
ROW15:K2tog.The rem single st will count as the first st picked up for the first rectangle in the next tier. Turn and transfer this st to the ringht needle .
